refresh - Visio 2010 Data Model from an Existing Netezza Database -

i'm looking build visio data model existing database.

i open visio, select option create new document data model, , select database tab.

the database netezza, i'm using generic ole db provider , ibm netezza ole db data provider

i complete wizard entering correct data source , username/password... connection

when test connection "connection successful"

...but when click "ok" connection disappears. there appears "save" button missing. bug in visio? missing step?

thanks advice/ thoughts/ comments.

i'll tell when try 'link data shapes' netezza, error box says "microsoft visio cannot connect data source" detail message "error 80040e21: odbc driver not support requested properties." using odbc. using ole db, got same error first time. trying reproduce retrieve specific ole db error, i've crashed visio twice.

i believe situation hopeless. visio making driver calls ibm not support in drivers.

ooh! answer was, always, keep plugging away. 'reverse engineer' on database tab... or subribbon... seems have pulled objects out of netezza database. threw lot of function sequence errors, have no way of interpreting those, , don't seem have damaged anything.

i used 'microsoft access' driver 'netezza' data source, makes odbc connection. had warning using microsoft access , netezza, don't know ostensible role access playing, here. fields , table/view names came in.

i have function processes , stores lot of data in , returns results vector of class. amount of data stored in function tremendous , want clear storage memory of function after finished job. necessary (does function automatically clear memory) or should clear memory function? update: vector<customers> process(char* const *filename, vector<int> id) { vector<customers> list_of_customers; (perform actions) return list_of_customers; } variables defined locally within function automatically released @ end of function scope. destructors objects called, should free memory allocated objects (if objects coded correctly). example of such object std::vector . anything you've allocated new must have corresponding delete release storage. try avoid doing own allocation , use raii instead, i.e. containers or smart pointers.
